In a strange turn of events watching a few of our Flyers go to different teams this off-season, Marty Biron was the next unrestricted free agent to go to another team. The Islanders have signed him to a small, $1.4 million one-year deal (see: rental). Ray Emery was signed with the Flyers for a one-year $1.5 million deal, which means Marty trying to hold out and bank on a team giving him financial and team security ultimately failed; getting signed for less than the Flyers newest goaltender. Speculation circles this move by the Islanders as they already have 2 goaltenders, one being the ailing injured DiPietro. This now raises the question whether or not he’ll be healthy enough to go between the pipes come October.

Looking Back on the Past Season; Looking Ahead
So we’ve been sitting around for the past month after watching our most recent rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, win their first Stanley Cup since the Lemieux era. A year and some months ago, we were watching the magical run of the Flyers with Biron stopping everything in his way and Umberger exploding over the Habs. We were watching our team go to the Eastern Conference Final after not making the playoffs and having a franchise-worst season. But, where are we now?
