Sillinger Calls It Quits

27 Aug

After seventeen years in the NHL, Mike Sillinger is hanging up his skates.

The 38-year old native of Regina, Saskatchewan, played 1,049 NHL games since being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round (11th overall) of the 1989 Entry Draft. His most prolific season came in 2006-07 with the Islanders when he had 26 goals and 33 assists.

His stats with the Flyers didn’t make him stand out, but he gave his all night in and night out.  And arguably one of the best face off men in the league.

I’ll never forget him taking a puck to the face when he was on the Flyers.
